KINGSWAY – Sundowning

Greetings music fans.

Your Uncle Jon is temporarily implementing phone-it-in Mondays. I know there is lots to talk about: the Blackhawks and the Celtics, the upcoming new releases from The Great Outdoors and Kingsway, the crazy weather, the second to last episode of Breaking Bad, and, most importantly, the three day bender I just finished up. But I don’t have the strenth. So let me just leave you with this: werd on the street is there might be a new DDG project in the works soon – and a rock project at that. Thank goodness. We need a little more rock around this place. Folk and country are fine, but it’s hard to always be listening to mellow music when you so prefer stimulants over depressants.

I’ll keep everyone posted. (Partiularly my coke dealer.)

Shine on you crazy diamonds.

Greetings music fans.

If I recollect correctly, this is to be the evening when we ignore the shitty weather and come together to party-in the good vibrations with a night of music and hijinx. We’re all gonna make the scene at the Cafe Montemarte (4362 Main Street) for Craig McCaul’s First Thirstday jam night (hi-balls on special for $1 – though that might be just a rumour). Werd is The Great Outdoors are playing an impromptu gig. It’s gonna be a party, kids. Bring lots of cash. And maybe your BC Medical card.

 THE GREAT OUTDOORS -
Shadow Mountain Lifesavers’ Club

Greetings music fans.

Apologies for the rudnickery of my title (headline? blogline?). I am just tired of all this precipitation already. It’s not so much the gloominess, or the way it’s ruining all the cool outside things we are supposed to be doing this time of year like drunken bocci and stoned frisbee golf (frolf?). It’s really more about the fact that when my hair gets wet my plugs really show. Not the look I was shooting for when I dropped that 34 hundo on the “Bon Jovi ’96″ plug kit. But I digress.

Anyways, I say we will this rain to stop – with our mindgrapes. Let’s get summer started now with the power of, you know, doing summery shit. We can  kick it off with a good ol’ night of great music. Let’s do it at Craig McCaul’s First Thirstday gig tomorrow night at the Montemarte. In fact, I will get the whole Great Outdoors to come play. It’ll sound a little something like this…

And if that ain’t enough to get your summer kickstarted, swing by the bathrooms right around the same time your Uncle Jon does. I might have something else to help get things going. And bring your hot friend.

Shine on you crazy diamonds.

Yeah, no sweep, Blackhawks. Not ’cause I don’t want to see it. Just because I want those little punks to win in their hometown. I know they’ll take full advantage of all the fun it has to offer. And what is being a champion all about if not the opportunity to debauch.

So drop one, boys. It will be worth it.

KINGSWAY & C-REVS – Batista’s Lullaby

Greetings music fans.

I can’t believe this blog has now been around for almost four months. That is a helluva long time for a blog to remain on the Internet. Wait. Let me clarify that statement: That is a helluva long time for a blog which is written by a disinterested, lazy, no-follow-thru-having, vice-addled, douche bag of senior citizen to remain on the Internet. Huzzah.

But I am not here to brag about the longevity of this digital conduit of great music, somewhat smutty pics, and hilarity; I am here to talk about the weather. Now back when I started this blog I told myself the that I could write about anything. The whole idea was to just draw some attention to the great songs being made here at DDG Records. I did, however, promise myself I would never write about the weather (unless it snows – that’s a big deal here in Vancouver). But the rain has never really gotten to me in all the time I have been out here. But it is starting to get to me now. According to Stats Canada, we are now on our 417th straight day of rain here in Vancouver. 417. I think the gods are telling me it’s time to move this operation south. (Kiefer? Kief?)

Shine on you crazy diamonds.
